Other than the name and the borrowed characters, the game has very little in common with the original. Hoping to get a blast from the past, or close to it, but this game never really managed to do it for me. Controls are unprecise, graphics are updated. The original game still definitely has an 'edge' compare to this one which feels very 'ordinary' at best. It is definitely a shame as knowing the game has been made by the original developers, this could have been so much more.Sometimes classics are best left as they are.A good point though; You get a copy of the original game (Although you cannot play it full screen it seems).. I guess Mixed is about right for this revamp. There's something about it that doesn't make me hate it, but I'm not in love with it either. I ended up enjoying Dex way more, which is extremely underrated and unfairly criticized. This is fun to play, very polished game.I loved the original, this is better.. My favourite game on Snes & Megadrive just got updated. Brilliant memories.. Overall a good game. I'm wasn't a fan of the original version that came out in the 90s on console, but this game seems to be very similar given the comparison I can make via YouTube.On the positive side:- Decent story that makes you care (somewhat) about the characters- Very nice 3D graphics- Cool cyberpunk theme, especially true during the Death Tower scene- Fun game play via a mix of mazes, shooting, stealth, and even driving (one scene only)On the negative side:- Quirky game mechanics: moreso for lefties- Black and White Flashback scenes seem out of place. (It's the main theme fer Pete's sake!)- Skill points are not really part of the game: I never used them!- Somewhat short? But that depends on your skill and what you normally expect. 5-10 hours max. Not perfect, but this is certainly worth getting on sale.. I was a big fan of the original on the SNES, so I was expecting a straight up butchering of a classic. What I found though was that this game isn't as bad as a lot of people were making out. Sure, it holds your hand a LOT, but you can turn pretty much all of the assistance off. The voice acting is absolutely horrible though and just pure cringeworthy at times - 'let's party!' when using a health restore machine. Seriously, Ubisoft? I bought it for 1.99 on sale and I'd say it definitely was worth that price. I'm only up to the first level where you return to Earth, and as stated, it's not a straight up remake, more an re-imagining of the original title. It definitely has it's issues though, like in the Death Tower levels, I couldn't use the health/grenade machines to refill, unless I moved the camera to be dead centre - if you didn't do that, pressing X did nothing. So yeah, it has a few bugs and quirks and the voice acting is dreadful, but it's worth picking up on sale if you're a fan of the original.
